Earthquake in Chile Leads to Pole Shift!

I saw "2012"--oh, why didn't I pay attention?!
In keeping with my posts on natural disasters and the futility of it all, here's something more. No, the Chilean earthquake didn't cause a complete pole shift (we're all still here, after all), but apparently it did mess with the Earth's rotation. Wow, that's freakin' scary! I mean, if a little ol' earthquake can throw off the entire dang planet, hell, anything's possible!

I say, bring it on. I'm ready for the world to crack wide open and swallow us all. Is that asteroid UN3 the same as the Apophis asteroid?

That one they said would be so close that it will pass within the level our satellites orbit.

However, a possibility remains that during the 2029 close encounter with Earth, Apophis will pass through a gravitational keyhole, a precise region in space no more than about 600 meters across, that would set up a future impact on April 13, 2036.

I will confess that sometimes we hear so much stuff like this that I actually wonder what it would be like if it really did happen. Just not during one of my favorite shows, ok? But seriously, not sure if Apophis and UN3 are the same. That gravitational keyhole things sounds interesting--hadn't heard of it before. Sounds like something they'd come up with on Star Trek in order to save the day.

I wouldn't worry too much. It only changed the length of the day by about 1 and a half milliseconds.

Libhom, I know, just having a little fun. But oddly enough, I heard some people on the radio yesterday actually laughing, joking and saying they believe this is all a hoax, that we shouldn't trust the science. Why do people reject what they cannot understand? I suppose I know the answer, but they end up showing how anti-intellectual/stupid they really are.

This is all we have to say about this.

Just imagine what an 11.5 magnitude earthquake can do, it is a scary thought.
