I'm Selling My Motorcycle!

Lordy, this is like giving up a child--it's like "Sophie's Choice!" Well, maybe not--but it feels that way!

So why am I doing this? Well, I haven't ridden it much lately, only twice since last November. True, the weather hasn't exactly cooperated, but it seems my energy is going in other directions. And yet, I still have to maintain the bike, keep it all lubed up (*wink*) and running, and I just don't have the motivation--or the cash--to do so right now. And then I just felt like I should try and sell it. Since I'm trying to listen to my intuition more these days, I decided to give it a shot. I can always buy another some day.

I've had a lot of fun on the bike, but it is weird how "things" become an extension of your ego--which isn't necessarily bad but then again, not necessarily good either. I am not my bike! In a way, it feels freeing to sell it, to unburden myself from 1 more responsibility. Feels like I'm traveling lighter already!

Now, excuse me while I go bawl my eyes out!

Awwww - it's so easy to become attached to things, but it is only a thing. I learned that lesson years ago when we smashed our car. We had taken such good care of it and in a heartbeat it was totalled. Fortunately nobody was seriously hurt, but that lesson has stayed with me. People can't be replaced, objects can. (now I'll go bawl my eyes out with you). LOL!

Thanks for your congrats on my book coming out. Now see why I needed to steal your "guy in the surf" pic? Ha! I didn't know it at the time. I just liked it.

What ideas do you have for writing? Have you begun? I find that just letting the words flow - no pressure, no "have-to's" works better than forcing.

Good luck. Keep me posted.

My roommate loved his motorcycle too and was bummed when he let it go. I (nervous nelly that I can be) breathed a sigh of relief. I don't even like riding behind a motorcycle in my car and will change lanes on the rare occasion I find myself driving. I hope you can get some good money for the motorcycle which you can apply to something else which will bring you happiness or peace of mind.

Wendy, I have 2 ideas. 1) a book blending traditional astronomy with myths and legends about celestial bodies, and 2) a "how-to" book for those looking for more pagan/alternative weddings and other celebrations. We'll see!

BosGuy--check my next post for an update! And don't feel bad about being a "nervous nelly" and avoiding motorcycles. If they do make you the least bit nervous, it's best to give space or move aside. Us riders prefer that over the jerks who like to ride our ass or cut us off!

Ohhhh - I love that first one. Sending shivers of delight down my back. Book #2 sounds very practical, but the first one really catches my interest.

Good luck!!
